Commissioned and other artwork

My artwork spans the fields of portraiture, still-lifes, landscapes, magazine illustrations and more.
Most of my work is done in acrylics, though you will also find watercolours, pencil drawings and mixed mediums.. 
Currently, I paint for recreational purposes, but take on commissions at request, and I have recently started experimenting with aquaoils.

I recently moved to a picturesque, small coastal town in Norway, along with my devoted companion Mina (who is a chocolate-coloured, cocker spaniel girl), after having lived in Sweden for 10 years - most of that time spent renovating an old house.
From now on I plan to spend more time doing artwork, rather than painting walls.

About me

My name is Ayla Helen Backe, and I was born in London, UK, though relocated with my family to Norway at the age of 11.
Upon completion of my A-levels, I returned to England, where I did a 3-year course in illustration.
After receiving my diploma, I returned to Norway, where I worked in various fields, amongst these as a freelance illustrator for magazines, as a PA/translator at an embassy in Oslo, and as a secretary at a publishing house in Oslo.
I have also taken a 2-year course in graphic design, Mac design and marketing in Oslo.
